“A picture of elegance and finesse, this bubbly combines lemon, apple, mineral and a touch of honey with its lithe frame. It’s all beautifully put together, with a crisp finish…”

“One moderately priced Champagne that I have greatly enjoyed the last few years is La Caravelle, a proprietary bottling from the former owners of La Caravelle, a classic French restaurant that closed, sadly, in 2004.

The owners of La Caravelle, Rita and André Jammet, had been selling the Champagne at the restaurant since 1997, and after it closed, the Jammets made the Champagne available in New York City retail shops and selected other markets. It’s simply an elegant, delicious Champagne, as classically shaped as the restaurant was. I particularly like the Cuvée Nina, a straight-ahead brut made with roughly equal parts chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier, the three dominant Champagne grapes. La Caravelle is also available in a rosé and a blanc de blancs.”
